Warning: Emails regarding Trademarks misusing the names and SRA numbers of genuine individuals purporting to be from 'MA & Co Law'

Emails have been sent from 'MA & Co Law' purporting to be from a genuine law firm misusing the details and names of a genuine law firm and genuine solicitors in connection with purported trademarking applications.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that emails have been sent to several recipients purporting to be from 'MA & Co Law Ltd'.
The recipients of the emails have received multiple emails from individuals purporting to be genuine solicitors (see below) regarding trademarks applications which are pending submission to the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO). The correspondence invites the recipient to secure trademark registration of the company name and offers to assist with this process and if they do not follow the guidance and advise they could face legal consequences.
The correspondence has falsely purported to be from different supposed 'Intellectual Property Solicitors' at the firm. At the time of publication, the correspondence seen by the SRA misuses the names and SRA numbers of four different genuine solicitors (see below). The correspondence seen so far was sent from the following email addresses:

- patricia@notice.maandcolaw.co.uk
- alice@legalnotice.maandcolaw.co.uk
The emails also provide a postal address of 66-68 Radclyffe House Hagley Road, Birmingham, United Kingdom, B16 8PF, a website address of 'https://maandcolaw.co.uk/' and the following contact numbers '+44 1922905346' and '+44 1217901321'.
Any business or transactions through the email address, telephone number and web address mentioned above are not undertaken by any individual or firm authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called MA & Co Law (SRA ID 8010317) who are located at Radclyffe House, 66-68 Hagley Road, Birmingham, B16 8PF. We do not hold an email address or telephone number for MA & Co Law.
MA & Co Law have confirmed that they do not have any connection with the above matter. The firm have also confirmed that there are no regulated individuals by the name of Stephanie, Sandra, Patricia or Alice working at MA & Co Law.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine Solicitor called Stephanie Annie Catherine Hacker (SRA ID 403613).
Stephanie Annie Catherine Hacker has confirmed that they do not have any connection with the above matter.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine Solicitor called Sandra Banga (SRA ID 802287).
Sandra Banga has confirmed that they have no connection to the above matter.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine Solicitor called Patricia Denise Bramwell (SRA ID 200622).
We believe that Patricia Denise Bramwell has no connection to the above matter.
Patricia Denise Bramwell has confirmed that they have no connection to the above matter.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine Solicitor called Alice Mary Rance (SRA ID 7826369).
Alice Mary Rance has confirmed that they have no connection to the above matter.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
